COVID-19 & Oregon: Temporary Rule for Work Share Participants

The Oregon State Department adopted a temporary rule, OAR 471-030-0036 (3)(f)(A). This rule will allow Work Share participants to use accrued leave when sick or taking care of someone who is sick. Also, this rule will allow missing a work opportunity due to jury duty. For purposes of determining whether an employee can receive Work Share benefits in a week: if the associate uses approved, accrued leave during a week, those leave hours count as hours worked during the week. This does not apply to leave taken for vacation but it does apply to leave taken for other reasons, including because illness, caring for someone else who is sick, jury duty, or because of COVID-19 related reasons. This rule will be effective from August 2, 2020 through December 26, 2020. You may contact the state by email at with any questions.

He is the primary contact with state agencies building strong relationships, lobbying for opportunities that increase quality of service and efficiencies, and insuring compliance with state specific requirements. He works with the client service team, answering technical questions related to the unemployment insurance programs administered by the individual states and oversees the processes associated with wage audits and fraudulent claim inquiries.
