COVID-19 & the Louisiana Workforce Commission

By May 4, 2020COVID-19

Emergency Rule:

The Louisiana Workforce Commission (LWC) issued an emergency rule that requires Louisiana employers to notify workers of the availability of unemployment benefits at the time of separation.

The LWC created a sample form that contains this required information and this sample form can be found on the state’s website: http://www.laworks.net/Downloads/UI/WTS/UI_AvailabilityNoticeToSeparatingEmployees.pdf.

Other Information for Employers in Louisiana:

If employers temporarily close or reduce your hours of operations due to COVID-19, contact the LWC with any specific questions or guidance.

Employers can reach the LWC at EmployerServices@lwc.la.gov  for any unemployment questions. Employers must provide their company’s name, a point of contact, telephone number, email address, and any specific questions or requests at the time of contact. Also, the Employer Call Center can be reached at 225-326-6999.

For other programs and assistance, contact an American Job Center. Go to http://www.laworks.net/Downloads/WFD/AJC_Contacts.pdf to find the closest American Job Center.

An Important Note for Reimbursers:

Non-charges may be granted to reimbursable employers impacted by COVID-19.
