Louisiana’s deadline for sending unemployment tax payments and reports for the second quarter of 2020 was extended, under a measure signed June 11, 2020 by Governor John Bel Edwards.
The measure (S.B. 461) moved the deadline to September 15 from July 31. The deadlines for sending unemployment tax and wage reports and payments for the third and fourth quarters is unchanged at this time.
The measure also codified relief from benefit charges related to the new COVID-19 outbreak. Benefits paid to former employees in relation to proclamations JBE 2020-27 and JBE 2020-29, which provided public health emergency measures, are not to be included in employers’ unemployment tax experience rating records.
In March, the deadline for submitting reports and payments for the first quarter of 2020 was moved to June 30 from April 30 to provide relief to employers affected by the COVID-19 crisis.
Louisiana’s deadline for submitting first-quarter unemployment tax and wage reports was extended to match the deferred deadline for tax payments, the Louisiana Workforce Commission announced today, June 17, 2020.
Our office will be monitoring these situations closely and will send out additional announcements or make postings on our website (https://thomas-and-company.com/covid-19/) as we become aware of new developments.
