COVID-19 & Washington State Unemployment Tax Filing & Payment Waivers

Governor Jay Inslee announced the expansion of state policies to support workers and businesses financially impacted by COVID-19.  The governor and Suzi LeVine, commissioner of the Washington Employment Security Department, rolled out new rules to help alleviate the economic impact felt by businesses and workers.

As part of this package, the WA ESD will waive financial penalties for employers who file their tax reports late, pay their taxes late, or do not respond to information requests in a timely fashion as a result of COVID-19.

The requirements to qualify for these waivers has not yet been published by the WA ESD but once announced, you will be able to find updated information on their website at
