In a web posting from earlier today, the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission has implemented programming to waive benefit wage charges for all experience-rated employers during the COVID-19 pandemic period from March 26, 2020 through December 31, 2020. This means that all employers in Oklahoma who are tax-payers will not to be charged for unemployment benefit claims related to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Under the measure, benefits charges are not to be included in the calculation of an employer’s unemployment tax rate when an employee separates for reasons related to the virus. Virus-related benefits instead are to be charged to the state’s general unemployment trust fund.
