COVID-19 & the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services

By March 19, 2020May 1st, 2020Uncategorized

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) advised that employers planning layoffs or shutdowns as a result of COVID-19 should share the layoff number, 2000180, with their employees. This layoff number will help expedite the unemployment process so employees can receive benefits as quickly as possible. In conjunction with this layoff number, click here to see the attached mass layoff instruction sheet. Employers can provide this instruction sheet to employees who are part of any layoff or shutdown.

Employees may apply for benefits at any time through ODJFS’s website:www.unemployment.ohio.gov. Employees may also apply by phone, Monday-Friday from 8am to 5pm, at (877) 644-6562 or TTY at (888) 642-8203.

The ODJFS is available at UCTech@jfs.ohio.gov for employer questions. More information about COVID-19, as well as more information on COVID-19 and its impact on unemployment procedures with the ODJFS, can be found at the following websites:www.coronavirus.ohio.gov or http://jfs.ohio.gov/ouio/CoronavirusAndUI.stm.
